The rare interactivity signalised, that outlawing of the homosexuals is not only an issue of the persons concerned. The person of the legendary film director is essentially an alabi, to become a witness of the struggle of a true Catholic believer with himself, until he is able to accept his otherness and is ready to live with it – first face to face with God, than with Man. Possibly the latter is more hard, people are less understanding, they even are less ready for acceptance.” Judit Simon

PRESS: CONGRATULATIONS!!! In the last but one day TESZT Festival 2018 presented a very important show for human rights, diversity, understanding and love to each other, subjects of the agenda of European Capital Cities of Culture (Timisoara 2021).
More than 50 years after the murder of the important Italian film director, poet, writer, intellectual, and political figure Pier Paolo Pasolini, the performance showed loud and clear that all the conflicts of Pasolini are still evident today. Pasolini wanted to be a catholic and a gay person together in one. Half a decade after his murder he is an established major figure in European literature and cinematic arts, what about gay people today?

Szabó‘s show of visual art and movement figured out Pasoloni’s inner conflicts by a young man‘s coming out. And this continued to be a matter of heated debate, again: The church, politicians and people being afraid of themselves are still working against liberty of minorities, esp. the gay one. For Pasolini there was no hope, and today there is still very much to do, esp. in Eastern Europe.

“Die Produktion hat mich tief beeindruckt, jenseits der überwältigend schönen und suggestiven digitalen Visualität, des Interviews mit Pasolini, der berühmten Rede von Barack Obama in der Sache der Homosexuellen. Die rare Interaktivität signalisierte, dass die Ausgrenzung der Homosexuellen nicht nur eine Sache der Betroffenen ist. Die Person des legendären Filmregisseurs ist im Grunde ein Alibi, um Zeuge zu sein, wie ein gläubiger Katholik mit sich kämpft, bis er in der Lage ist, sein Anderssein zu akzeptieren und damit zu leben, zuerst vor Gott, dann vor den Menschen. Vielleicht ist letzteres schwerer, die Menschen sind weniger verständnisvoll, noch weniger sind sie zur Akzeptanz bereit.” Judit Simon
